"... sculpting in time"
~ A. T.
In front of your eyes, it all changes. Life, the walker travels through your existence, your existence travels through Life. The sceneries in your world slide and move, exchanged one for the other. These moments of uninvited change could feel chaotic, frightening, unsettling as we are never prepared for this.
I invite you to dive deep into your own soul while such change is taking place. Deep dive is not running away, it’s not hiding, it’s not as if you are not a participant in the changes happening, within and without. Dive deep is choosing to embrace Stillness as the foundation of existence. Stillness is not the lack of movement. If you zoom in a drop of Stillness, you will notice a lot of action, slow motion, kaleidoscope of happenings.
Trauma disturbs Life and the sense of Self; it could feel as if you can no longer walk again, fly again, sing again, dance again, as if you can no longer Be again. Yet, as time passes by, as we engage in supportive connections, both personal and professional, we might look back and realise in awe how much we have transformed – from what we were prior the traumatic event/s, to a broken Self or Selves, then again – back to basics when the Self is broken no more, but somehow different, cracked and mended. It is a Self you grow to embrace, love and appreicate over time.
Often I am being asked to give tips how to survive and deal with the effects of Complex Trauma.
I cannot. There are no tips. However, there is something even better - there is a process of transformation, when the story of trauma becomes only a small part of your Life story. What happened to you in the past will always be part of your story, but it doesn't have to be the whole story.
Instead of giving you tips, together we could work on dealing and navigating the stormy waters while you find your own anchor - again, or for the first time. Together, we could learn to trust this unknown but powerful process. As therapist, I know and I trust that the transformative process of therapy never fails; however each journey is unique as each person entering my practice is unique, and more often than not - unforgettable.
In the Stillness and beauty of this mystery, I close my eyes and savour the moment.
