"If you want to improve the world, start by making people feel safe."
— Dr. Stephen Porges
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a therapeutic intervention developed by Dr. Stephen Porges. It is designed to help individuals, especially those who have experienced trauma or have sensory processing difficulties, regulate their autonomic nervous system (ANS) and improve their social engagement and emotional well-being. The SSP is often used to address various sensory and emotional challenges.
What is involved:
SSP involves listening to music filtered to specific sound frequency. The protocol involves listening 5 hours of this music following an arranged pattern every day, until you have finished listening the entire protocol. The listening occurs within the therapeutic relationship, so I will be present in the room with you. Depending on various factors, you could begin listening 1 hr over 5 days, or 30 min over 10 days. The time could vary.
Cost: the cost involves equipment hire, assessment, the delivery of the SSP and a follow up session. The cost is additional to the regular session fees.
